Rising Pune start their first win against Mumbai Indians with these 4 overseas players, Kevin Pietersen, Faf du Plessis, Mitchell Marsh and Steven Smith and all are suffering from injuries.
According to Alex Kountouris, the Cricket Australia Sports Science and Sports Medicine Manager, Smith’s injury doesn’t appear to be of a serious nature, but he has been asked to return in order to recover and regain full fitness ahead of Australia’s tour to West Indies towards the end of May.
“Steve has been struggling with pain in his right wrist for the last week during his stint in the IPL,” Australia’s sports science and sports medicine manager Alex Kountouris said. “We have been working with his IPL franchise Pune to monitor this, and unfortunately, it has not resolved. As such, he will return home from India for further assessment and treatment ahead of the tour of the West Indies.
“From the information we have so far, this doesn’t appear to be a serious injury but we are keen to give him the time to recover and rehabilitate before heading to the West Indies at the end of May.”
As Rising Pune Super Giants, Captain Ms Dhoni and Head coach Stephen Fleming are looking for a combination and to balance their team and play rest of the IPL for a winning cause but the situation is getting even worse and they are losing their overseas player one by one as Kevin Pietersen suffering from calf injury in Pune vs RCB match. His absence will affect Super Giants batting line-up.Smith scored a quick 45 in just 23 balls against Mumbai Indians in Sunday game, Which turned out to be his final IPL 2016 innings.
